It works by shining a laser onto the object and collecting the data from another sensor to create millions of data points of 3D XYZ coordinates that can be placed together to create a survey and 3D model of the building or land that can be developed into a CAD file.

It’s a quick process, that records thousands of data points per second and is one of the most accurate ways to create a high accuracy survey. It uses triangulation or time of flight to calculate data points, from where the laser comes into contact.

From here, surveys can be produced and customised to the level of detail required for your needs, be that a floor plan or full 3D model replication.
